International Relief Foundation (IRF) is a UK based registered charitable organisation established in 2011, with its head office in London. It was founded to tackle the devastating effects of the 2011/12 famine that blighted the Horn of Africa and affected almost 13 million people.
IRF works on the principal of development cooperation with those in difficult circumstances, in order to build a better life and offer them the chance to find their own solutions to local and global problems through conflict transformation learning and skills support programs.
We put the disadvantaged communities such as marginalised and the vulnerable in the center because we know that we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities.
From this grass roots movement and since we started these efforts, we have helped thousands of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people, and we have been able to expand our work on to a global level by working closely with our partners and offices on the ground. We were able to distribute aid in an effective, efficient, transparent, wholly accountable manner and to make a lasting difference to the communities we work with.
Envisions a world in which every man, woman and child can enjoy an empowered life with security, dignity and with equal opportunities, in which the basic requirements of all people are fulfilled.
is to achieve lasting improvement in the quality of life of all people, regardless of their race, gender, ethnicity, age, religion, political view or sexual orientation, by mobilising resources, building partnerships and developing local capacities.
- Respect of community values, traditions and beliefs.
The core areas of our work includes community, economic development, emergency relief, education, training, food distribution, health, water supply, sanitation, conflict transformation, capacity building and creation of vocational training that can lead to sustainable livelihood.
We are dedicated to address the root causes of poverty around the world, we are passionate about working beyond the provision of immediate relief, towards supporting communities over the long-term.
IRF’s programs are implemented through IRF offices in different countries, which are supported with technical assistance and program management by IRF members (including IRF UK). We work in partnership with local organisations to deliver many of our programs.
IRF is non-religious and non-political, allowing us to deliver humanitarian and development assistance to anyone in need regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, age, religion, political view or sexual orientation.
IRF is also registered as a charitable organisation in Somalia and Kenya with the NGO Coordination Board.
