Fighting poverty. Defending dignity in the world’s most vulnerable places

International Relief Foundation (IRF) is a UK based NGO established in 2011, which operates in some of the world’s most vulnerable places, by providing much needed assistance to communities that have been affected by disasters, conflicts, and the cycle of poverty.

It was founded to tackle the devastating effects of the 2011/12 famine that blighted the Horn of Africa and affected almost 13 million people.  Helping the poor and those who are suffering to enjoy self-reliance, with dignity.

The core areas of our work includes community, economic development, emergency relief, education, food distribution, health and nutrition water supply, sanitation, conflict transformation, capacity building and creation of vocational training that can lead to sustainable livelihood.

We put the disadvantaged communities such as marginalised and the vulnerable in the centre because we know that we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities.

From this grass roots movement and since we started these efforts, we have helped thousands of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people, and we have been able to expand our work on to a global level by working closely with our partners and offices on the ground. We were able to distribute aid in an effective, efficient, transparent, wholly accountable manner and to make a lasting difference to the communities we work with.

Vision, Mission, Values

Our vision is a world in which every man, woman and child can enjoy an empowered life with security, dignity and with equal opportunities, in which the basic requirements of all people are fulfilled.
