Education
Education is a fundamental human right and a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. At the International Relief Foundation, we are committed to promoting access to quality education for vulnerable and underserved communities, with a special focus on crisis-affected regions such as Somalia.
Globally, millions of children and youth remain out of school due to conflict, displacement, poverty, and lack of infrastructure. These challenges are further compounded by gender inequality, child labour, and natural disasters, which disproportionately affect marginalised populations and hinder long-term development.
In Somalia, the education sector faces significant challenges. Decades of conflict, insecurity, and political instability have severely weakened the education system. Many schools lack basic facilities, trained teachers, and learning materials. In rural and hard-to-reach areas, access to education is even more limited, particularly for girls. Displacement due to drought and violence continues to disrupt schooling, leaving thousands of children without consistent access to learning opportunities.
The International Relief Foundation works to address these barriers by supporting community-based education initiatives, rehabilitating schools, training teachers, and providing essential learning resources. We prioritise inclusive, safe, and equitable education that empowers children and youth to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
By investing in education, we invest in peace, resilience, and sustainable development.

Making a Difference for Marginalised Communities in Somalia
We are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of background, tribe, or location, has access to quality education. Our mission is to uplift marginalised and minority communities in Somalia by providing the tools they need for a brighter future.
Since 2008, we have supported disadvantaged children in Mogadishu, including orphans and those affected by conflict and displacement. Our first project offered primary education to communities left behind by war and tribal divisions.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we continue to turn hope into reality. Education is a right, not a privilege. For countless Somali children, the chance to learn is all they ask for. Together, we can make sure they are not forgotten.
