It was an honour for the International Relief Foundation (IRF) to participate in the Climate Action Conference for charities and community organizations, organized by the Muslim Charities Forum (MCF). Our Chief Executive Officer, Hamza Mohammed, was among the attendees of this event, held at the WWT London Wetland Centre on 16 May 2024. The conference brought together over 30 delegates from across the UK charity sector.
The event marked the launch of the Muslim Charities Forum Climate Action Report—a candid examination of how British Muslim-led charities are raising awareness about climate change, reducing emissions, tackling waste, and engaging donors in climate action. The report is essential reading for anyone interested in sustainability, featuring case studies and honest reflections on the challenges that hinder greater progress and engagement.
The program included three inspiring workshops, offering practical advice and support, hosted by Zero Hour, Climate Outreach, and Hope for the Future. Expert panellists included Dr Lutfi Radwan from the sustainable and halal Willowbrook Farm, Shazia Arshad, Head of Communications and Creative Content at Islamic Relief, and Kamran Shezad from IFEES. The event was hosted by the dynamic Zamzam Ibrahim, UN Advisor, Climate Activist, and founder of SOSUK.
