After the local community leaders requested us to intervene and rehabilitate the Marka Hospital, it was decided to help the community in Marka restore their general hospital.
Marka is an ancient port city in the southern Lower Shebelle province of Somalia. Facing the Indian Ocean, it is the main town in the region, with a population of circa 230 000. 109 km Southwest of Mogadishu, the hospital offers very limited health care to hundreds of thousands of people in Marka and the neighbouring towns, including Janalle, Buulo-Mareer, Kunturwarey, Qoryoley, in the Lower Shabelle region.
In June 2015, the major restoration of Marka general hospital was completed.
