Women Empowering Somalia

International Relief Foundation has initiated and donated Sewing Machines and other Sewing materials to Banadir Mother and Orphans Organisation. The project advocates for women and girls’ empowerment by building their capacities and competencies to be economically and socially empowered and self-reliant.

The project targets 50 women direct beneficiaries and over 500 direct beneficiaries from the area. Each woman was equipped with a free sewing machine so she could earn a regular income.

Equipping the women with the necessary skills and knowledge to start and manage their businesses will increase their financial abilities to enable them to purchase food for their families, educate their children (girl child focus), afford better health, clothing and shelter for their children and reduce poverty and attain improved standards of living. The project is focusing on the capacity building of women who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
